Saw that last night.
American was so far ahead that all he needed to do was to hit HIS target to win Gold. He accidentally aimed for another person's target. So he received a Zero for that round and it dropped him to 8th place.

My thoughts:

AS AN EXPERIENCED RIFLEMAN DUDE OR WAHTEVER< HOW THE F$#K DO YOU HIT HTE WRONG TARGET IN THE F%#$ING OLYMPICS?!!

<---BTW, REALLY REALLY ENJOYED PING PONG( aka "table tennis) AND ...

anyways....I actually enjoyed the Badminton gold medal match. I must admit that thought that it was kind of weak in terms of being a real "sport" but after seeign that gold medal match, I found that I respected the sport, and most importatnly, respected the players.

That indonesian kid was awesome.

Poor guy... all he had to do was hit the target, pass go, and collect $200:(

I mean obviously it's his own fault, but that just sucks.

That mistake is extremely rare in top events. The guy was basically so nervous on his last shot that he forgot to check target number. He needed a 7-point shot to win and he shot a 8.1 on the wrong target.

Actually it's incredibly easy. It's one of the difficulties in target shooting. There may have been 20 identical targets, and only 8 competitors. You aren't allowed to be on either end (easy to tell which one is yours).

He probably got lax knowing he had gold in the bag, and wasn't careful.
