I know damn well who I am messing with, that is why I am doing it. When the administrators have the IQ of a horse I really do not get worried
I agree wholeheartedly. These forums are basically operated by moderators. Every punishment is based on moderators' subjective opinions full of personal biases. Read around the forums for awhile and you will not miss moderator playing favorites with certain users. They're all volunteers. AnandTech is volunteer moderator, because it is financially effective for them. It helps them run the forums without actually paying employees. Users chosen as moderator gladly takes position, not because they want to serve, but they want their power trip.
Moderators act like they're somebody. Right. Like if a giant ISP is going to cancel a customer paying $50 a month over the cause of some unnamed volunteer moderators representing a small geek company whined about their customer's posting. They can't do sh!t and they need to stop acting like they're the FBI agent. They'd be lucky if their whining even gets five seconds of time by some minimum wage worker at ISP.
If AnandTech still has a problem with ISP not removing the user, they can ban the IP subnet and cost everyone on the same subnet. Eventually, majority of population will be unjustly knocked off simply because others on same subnet is perceived as a menace to AnandTech community.
Their second option is they can file a civil lawsuit against the ISP for not removing users they perceive as a menace. HAHAHA like this is going to happen. Since when does AnandTech have enough legal resource to do this and who are going to testify in court, the unnamed volunteer moderators? Surely not.
Wouldn't this be laughable to read HAHAHAHAHA
(The below is fictitious)
IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
CITY OF RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA
ANANDTECH, INC
PLAINTIFF
VS.
WHATEVER ISP
DEFENDANT
Plaintiff complains and alleges as follows:
1. Defendant's customer cause disruption to our sevice.
2. Defendant will not ban the menace user as we command.
.
.
.
and continues. Can you imagine extravagent expense here?
especially when threatened that they will report me to
my isp for free speech.
They won't do anything. I'd be
VERY surprised if they can actually get an outside entity to take action against a paying customer. Get real. Why would they ban a paying customer over some whining made by some volunteer worker representing a geek community?
If they sue, they'll be laughed out of court and sued back by the giant ISP for legal fee. AnandTech Inc vs. AT&T Broadband over user's free speech is a joke.
Moderators are all about threats and talks. I've not heard of anyone getting kicked off from their ISP due to complaints from AnandTech nor have I heard of AnandTech Inc, filing a civil case against an ISP. If you read in FAQ, you can see that AOL IP's are banned. If they think they're the man, they can go ahead and take a legal action against AOL, but instead, they blocked AOL IP. What's the chance of AT prevailing AOL over some user behavior
