He he... Just got Direct TV to eat a $100 install fee

Jumped on the DTV/Tivo deal they have going, $50 for a new DTV IRD with an integrated TIVO.

DTV said "installed price" so I went ahead & agreed to a year contract...

Installer shows up today, says since he has to fish 2 lines down a wall, it's $75 each:|

I called DTV & reviewed installation fees with them, the installer says he was mistaken, it's only $50/line while I'm on the phone with them...

Got through to a supervisor who caved & credited my bill $100 for the "custom install" 😀

Now to find a deal on a 30" Olvea Syntax😉

I think it's pretty typical of them to charge extra to fish lines. So good job getting them to knock it off 🙂

I was telling the installer that I was looking for a 30" LCD TV & my 12 year old daughter overheard & freaked out.🙂

Yep, wrote the installer a check & DTV deducted the $100 from my current bill😀

When we were activating the unit, he put me on the phone to DTV, I gave them my secret code & then asked, "This guy is offering to sell me a card that'll give me free PPV & premium channels, is he legit?"

The poor guy just gasped, "Nooooo" & the DTV CSR laughed for almost a full minute, she heard him freak out.:evil:

Yep, we got along great, he's from Iowa, I'm from North Dakota, both of us in Texas now, after we got the install fee sorted out, we had fun talking about what it's like being a yankee😀

We were talking about signal theft & I told him I used to do it, he mentioned he knew a bunch of guys that are serving time in jail now for it (the guys who did it for $).
