HDTV's used as PC Monitors

I'm considering a 32" Sony Bravia 1080p/120hz hdtv to be used as a pc monitor for gaming.

Can it really display 1080p @ 120hz level?...cause i want to try those Nvidia 3d glasses too.
Are there any downsides?...i assume i'd have to manually turn tv off unlike monitors where it automatically goes standby when pc shuts off right?

any other positives or negatives of doing this method, let me know
thanks in advance.

How close do you plan on sitting to this TV?

You can get PC monitors that do 1080p and they are generally around 21-23" in size since it is expected that you will be sitting closer to them.

I'm actually using my 42" lcd tv as my monitor for my computer. It uses full 1920x1080 resolution. I had to resize desktop(using nvidia control panel) to fit into screen just right. I have a bluray/hd dvd drive in my rig and it looks awesome on my screen. I also have a tv tuner in my rig to watch hd tv. You do manually have to turn it off and on. They are great to game on as well. I would recommend it.

I guess it would really depend on the quality of the TV but in general it's ok. I have a cheap 42" westinghouse hdtv and it looked ok aside from first person shooters(crysis mostly) the screen tear was really really bad. I noticed a little tearing with other games but it was minimal. I would guess with a high quality tv this wouldn't be an issue, but something to keep in mind.

ok, went and picked up the sony xbr 32".
looks great, i had to lower the sharpness so that text looked smoother, i'll have to learn what settings i should use to get optimal picture quality. There is an option called "Game mode" which turns off the option for "Motionflow" (120hz).
So atm, i'm using cinemotion autio #2 and Motion flow on high. Not really sure what the differences are suppose to be, manual is useless.
i'm guessing Game mode turns off post processesing effects, but i hate trying to test each freaking setting but seems to work fine as it is and so far is as good as my previous Gateway 24" 6ms monitor except there is FAR less blurring when scrolling through text. cant tell a difference in games though. of course the larger size makes the 1080p less resolution cause i'm only like 2.5 feet away lol, but still nice.

so does Nvidia 3d glasses work with 120hz or no?
i read that since its actually 60hz, its upconverted to 120hz? so if its doubling frames, seems it would work ok but hard to find definite answer cause google results show forums where some say it wont and some say it should.....does anyone know hard facts?

afaik that tv can't actually accept a 120hz input. basically 120hz is just their way of saying 'no 3:2 pulldown needed.'
