We just returned from CostCo which had a JVC 56" LCoS 1080p for $1,574, similiar to this model.

We paid $1,600 for our Toshiba 50" DLP (720p) back in July 2006.

Now I'm waiting for the Westinghouse 37" 1080p LCD with HD tuner to hit $599, it might happen later this year.

It's 4:3, but I scored an Insignia CRT HDTV for $270 after rebate, albeit was on Black Friday. Sinve the original price was $340, it actually went up to $415 the next week.

I think I have my father convinced to wait until Costco comes to Milwaukee to replace their current TV

By this summer, costco + price drops = I think they're going to get a great deal

Smart move. Did you tell your father about CostCo's awesome return policy for non-computer products?

They also had a HUUUGE ass Samsung 67" 1080p DLP, I didn't even look at the price.

I'm on my second projector for Costco, so I think he knows about it. I'll be sure to refresh his memory about it when it comes to buying time.

The prices should drop even more after the Super Bowl, no? I heard that they've been keeping prices up for last minute bowl game buyers.

That's about the price it'd have to be to get me to buy an HDTV.

That's a good price and not all shows are broadcast in HD. I'd at least get an LCD with a QAM tuner.

Thats pretty much exactly what I'm holding out for also.

Time to retire the tube TV in the bedroom and wanna get a 32" LCD for $400 or less.

They're getting closer and closer all the time but I'm in no rush.

I got a refurbished (by the manufacturer) Hitachi 57" CRT projection based widescreen hdtv for $995 DELIVERED.. Was a freakin' amazing deal and it honestly looks nicer than my brother-in-laws 52" sony LCD based projection tv that cost more than twice that.

How much later? Why do you think this? I would pick it up for that price for sure

I plan on picking up one of the new Panny 1080p plasmas when they come out this summer.

Hopefully they will be cheaper than the $4600 50" 1080p Panny plasma they have up now.

HTF would I know? Last time I checked I can't predict the future, although that would be awesome.

It depends on a number of factors such as technology, prices and demand. I'm in no hurry as we just bought a Sceptre 32" LCD for our bedroom. The 37" would replace that. I just hope it happens before the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The greatest deal would be in Costco starting carrying Westies.

I love costco, but I wish they carried some more varieties of LCD's.
