HDTV

go to circuit city and compare both to each other. i wouldn't be surprised if there was a substantial difference between the two. and sometimes sanyo > rca, whereas other times rca > sanyo. it is best to check them out in-store. i did that for my tv and i'm glad i did since the other tvs on display were horrendous.

If all you're going to do is play PS3 on it then why not get 1080p?

ask it in this way:
why spend anywhere as low as $600 when you could spend as little as 1300?
sometimes, people have limited funding.
i recently purchased a 720p Sharp Aquos. Can't afford a 1080p set of good quality. i refuse to buy Westinghouse too. 😉

Well I'm kind of in that boat. I can't afford a 1080p set but could get a 720p set if I wanted. What I'm doing instead is saving 😛

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing LCD's have going is maximum screen size. Size and weight are non-issues to me.

CRT have a better picture if properly calibrated.

well SD signals will probably look better on the CRT than on the LCD. im sure the HD signals will look similar on both the CRT and LCD. im willing to say an HD signal will look a bit better on LCD.
