I got an HDTV wonder card from ati for x-mas and am just now getting around to installing it. I realized that my old ti 4200 card isn't directx9 compatible, so it is time to upgrade. I noticed in the HDTV manual that if you want to use all of the HDTV wonder features, namely Easylook and Thruview, you have to have an ati video card. Does anybody know if that is absolutely true? I am looking at the 9800 Pro, but it looks like the 6600GT or the 6800 are posting better numbers for not too much more money. I have an asus a7n8x-deluxe with a 2700+, 512 Mb ram. I would like to use all of the functions of the HDTV card, but not be completely obselete in 3 months. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

I would think that ati would specify that to have video drivers incompatibilities out of the way. besides, its a "quick linking" gui that you don't necessarily have to depend on as there are other better software out there.

I would go with the 6800; dedicated video processor so better scaling for whatever the hdtv wonder card is feeding it.

Thanks for the quick response.
You mention better software out there...do you mean software for the easyview and thruview functions?
Thanks again.

I think you'd have better luck with an ATI X800 series card. I've had nothing but trouble getting my HDTV Wonder to work with 6800 GT card.
