I am no pro when it comes to HDTV, but as far as I know isn't HDTV just higher resolution than standard TV? Doesn't that make it quite equivalent to a PC monitor because they are generally higher resolution as well. So for instance how will a Dell 2405 compare to the popular HDTV's out there?

the main difference is the size of the pixels

pc monitors will have them be densely packed esp on CRT, while on hdtvs they are generally larger and further apart

the significance is that PC monitors are best viewed close up, within 2-3 feet from you face, while with an hdtv, depending on the size you will really want to step back and sit at least 3-6 feet away imho
