What do you recommend? The budget is no more than $300 dollars and I want to view hd trailers and hd shows such as espn, play 360 games in HD and 1080i format on a new Dell 24in ultrasharp widescreen LCD flat panel(model 2407. Today I am going to build a pc, here are things I have right now.

P4 2.4ghz
XFX geforce 6800 256mb
wd raptor 150gb 10k 16mb
a classic alienware case
logitech MX5000
Logitech 5450 digtal speaker system
a pair of ddr2 pc6400 1gb stick
asus PN532 SLI MB
Creative Sound Live augdity 4 7.1 pro

And today, I might go to compusa and tiger direct to buy a hdtv tuner and P4 3.6 processor or P4 D.

I hope Adeplhia supports this hd tuner, if not, a hdtv box can connected to hdtv tuner or how does it work.

HD tuners can only record from OTA, broadcast digital SD or HD. As for recoding HD from component input, well.... as the old saying goes "How much do you want to spend?".

As for the HD trailers, if you can find somewhere to download them, your system should be able to play them nicely with the right codec.

Oh, and the 2407 should have component input - look for 3 RCA connections that are Blue Red and Green - you can connect your Xbox360 or HD cable box directly to the monitor.

Okey, so basically, I do not need a HDTV tuner. I thought 2407 does not have built in hdtv tuner or support hdtv. IF i have , i say, geforce 7800 gtx 256mb that shows hdtv supports, what would do I with that hdtv cable similar to S cable.

if you getting HDTV from:

Cable: with certian exception, you need your cable provider's HDTV box as the signal is encypted and it get decoded in the box. The encryption is supposed to prevent cable theft of their digital media.

Off Air Antenna: you need an HDTVG tuner and an antenna.

Off the internet: you need the appropriate codec. ie quick time with the 1080i or 1080p plugins, wmp 10 with the hd plugin.

typical methods of getting a 720p 1080i or 1080p (hd resolutions) signals to a display are:

computer: standard VGA or DVI.

video sources like an XBOX, DVD Player, or cable/sat box : component (3 cables colored red green and blue)(analog mehtod), DVI (which seems to be on the way to being defunct on tvs)(digital method), or HDMI (the newest way though most likely unavailable on a monitor)(digital method)
