sorry in advance if this is slightly off topic, but

Looking getting a HD tv - the ones around $1000 say "HD ready" other more expensive say "HD build-in". I'm guessing the HD ready have the connections but you need to buy/connect a HD tuner. Yet I've haven't noticed sales of HDTV tuner except in PC discussions. Any leads on where I can get / read about these for TVs

thanks in advance

ATI makes an HDTV tuner for your pc. I'm pretty sure they have them at CompUSSR, not sure where else.

You don't have to pay more for an HD tuner anymore. All TVs 36" and larger have to have a digital tuner, and you can rent one from your cable company for a small amount more than your old cable box.

Having a built in tuner doesn't help much as it will only be useful for OTA (over the air) HDTV signals. If you plan on using cable or satellite you will just use their box for HDTV anyways. I have HDTV through Cox and it's pretty sweet.
