I'm sorry if this is a repeated topic. I used the search function and read everything related but I could not find a definite answer....

I just purchased a Samsung 1080p DLP. It has a "built in HDTV tuner". Is that the same as an HDTV receiver? Will I need a seperate receiver to get HD broadcasts?

Thanks!

receiver means it has the res/input support but no tuner iteslf, some have cable card slots, while for others you just need a hdtv capable STB or OTA tuner. ones with tuners have OTA tuners so for cable HD broadcast you still need a tuner/stb

Which model did you get? I've been waiting for the new HLS models to hit the stores. I hear Sears have gotten some in, and plan to stop by one this weekend.

EDIT:To answer your question, since you have the built in tuner, you can get HDTV over the air with an antenna.

I ended up getting the 67" 1080p, it's not the new model line that just came out. I would have got one of the new models but there wasn't a 67" in that line and I really wanted the 67" due to some design aspects of my entertainment room.

Thanks!
