HDTV suggestions?

I'm in the market for about a 40inch or so HDTV(size can vary)... I've been told to get widescreen because that is how HDTV is broadcast. I was also told either 1080i or 720p is ok, and that it didn't really matter.

Anyone have any suggestions on some good tvs? I'm looking to spend less than 1200 bucks...

Thanks 😉

Thanks for the link DanJ. So I really can't go wrong w/ mitsu, samsung or panasonic? That's what I'm getting from what you are saying 🙂

Not for 1200 buck you arent. It is only needed if you are getting broadcast HDTV via antenna. Cable or satellite boxes handle it otherwise. BTW, Samsung is quite reliable. I made friends with a service guy, and he tells me he doesn't get as many service calls for them as for Sony's

Most HDTVs don't have an HD tuner of any sort, certainly the ones ~$1000 don't. If you have HD cable in your area they'll supply the box.

I saw that set at Costco's for $999 btw.

As has been said most HDTV's you're going to be looking at in that price range are "monitors", you'll need to add an HD receiver.

How much do the recievers usually run? I think the only way I'd get HDTV would be thru the antenna... so I'd need a reciever 🙁 Or I guess I could just switch to satelite 😉

You saw the samsung set? The 42' one? Sweet 🙂 I'll have to go check it out!

Thanks!

It only weighs 100 lbs or so, that's nice 🙂

just need a 1080i capable set. 720p is nice, but not needed. i would take a look at the mitsubishi RPTV sets. WS-48313 would work nicely
