Generally HDMI to DVI, although I would try both and see which you like better. Some TVs (my older 32" LCD for example) allow for more control of the picture settings through the component inputs.

HDMI to DVI.

However, if you have a CRT or rear-projection CRT, the quality different is not noticeable, IMO.

That kind of defeats the point of the HDMI connection. Your suppose to view it as the 'director' wanted it and not how you want to change the settings :p lol.

Well, TVs do need to be calibrated though.

Where should I buy an HDMI to DVI cable? I'd probably need a 6' cable. Newegg has one, but it's $35 shipped. Anywhere cheaper?

I'm not sure this is true for digital devices like LCD tvs.

As others have suggested CablesForLess.com

That's where I ordered my DVI HDMI cable, works great.

Last time I checked, HDMI was pin for pin the same as DVI, just more crap (audio) and the protocols support encryption. Otherwise, it?s exactly the same signal.

I'm not following what you meant by "and the protocols support encryption." ?

Do you mean this is a place where HDMI and DVI are different, or a place where they are the same ?

And what about HDMI, and DVI w/HDCP, are those the same excpet for audio ?
