I'm new to HDTV's so I was hoping I could get some advice here. Is there any noticeable difference between different 720p 32" HDTV's? I'm looking at a cheap one by AOC from newegg:

Is there any difference between this and say a more expensive Sharp Aquos or Sony Bravia of the same specs (32" 720p)? I know a lot about computer monitors (different classes of panels: TN vs MVA/PVA vs IPS). Can HDTV's be compared the same way? Thanks.

I don't think any 32" sets have TN panels.

Even the high-end LCD brands (and for TV it's Sony and Samsung) are, I think, now starting to use cheaper (Chinese) panels in that size. On the other hand, the panels are getting better, too. So the main difference is likely to be color accuracy out of the box (and ease and range of color adjustments), QC, video processing/scaling (particularly for SD material) and -- most importantly -- the ability to service the set if there are problems. You know Samsung and Sony are going to be around, with repair networks and parts. The no-names... Who knows?
