HDTV/Projector Pros & Cons

Before you spend ub3r money I tend to think you should at least have a basic understanding of what your throwing your money at. Even though HDTVs have been around for a while and are becoming quite common many people still aint got a clue what the heck is going on. I know I sure dont. LCD DLP LCOS Plasma and all manner of projection types (flat projection TVs WTF?!) ect...Itd be real handy to have a list side by side of the pros and cons. Like say plasma has better contrast than LCD (in the same price range) or projectors get you the largest screen for the price range (dont know if thats all true)...not looking for a bunch of fanboy flamers, I want just the facts. Maybe even definitions or explanations of some of these may help. I might update this post with a nice list if I can get some good info going. Thanks in advance!

Type in something like "hdtv type comparison" into google and you come up with a ton of different things. You can find detailed descriptions of the different technologies at places like howstuffworks.com and on the wiki pages. If you want more in depth analysis and direct comparisons, take thee to the AVS forums (www.avsforum.com) and ask away. In general there are always trade offs for everything and sets from different makers vary greatly. There are generalizations across the tech lines, but in general there are always plenty of exceptions.... and it really comes down to how much you want to spend, what you are going to use it for, and the room you are going to put it in / how far you are going to sit (among other things).

Really basic from crutchfield: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor....ter/home/TV_chart.html
