HDTV Price drops??

I asked my brother (he just got a sharp aquos 27''~ LCD HDTV) if getting a HDTV for christmas was worth it. He said that it was not worth it now as Hdtv's now are gonna be really cheap (around half price of todays prices). I was lookin at a CRT HDTV for my room, but an LCD would be better for me. So my question, in about a year, will LCD and/or CRT HDTV that are out now be half the price as he says?

My prediction is that existing technology will continue to get cheaper... of course the problem comes up in that new tech which is just as expensive as the stuff we have now will simply replace it!
I'd certainly wait until after Christmas to buy at this point, but its a lot like high-end GPU's... theres ALWAYS going to be somthing better and/or cheaper coming down the pike right AFTER you decide to pull the trigger and if you always wait for it, you end up never having it!
