HDTV PiP question...

I've recently purchased a Panasonic PT-44LCX65 44-inch HDTV, and am trying to figure out how to utilize the picture in picture functionality. The only mention of this in the manual is "split screen," which only freezes the image on one portion of the television. Am I missing something here?

 
If the TV supports PiP you probably just need two sources. Like if you had OTA HD and your cable box. It may be possible to do with just the cable box. My cable box has two tuners and the remote has a button that says PiP but I've never gotten it to work.
