Hey guys, I just purchased a 36" HDTV Tube from Panasonic... Before I start hearing people rag on Panasonic, let me say that the Sony had the same problem... Ok, so brands aside, one thing does affect the picture of an HDTV quite heavily... OVERSCAN!

The question is, can it be fixed correctly? I know service modes may allow you to fix it.... But I also heard putting in the wrong information for a setting will destroy the TV.

Anyways, I just got the TV 32 days ago and 1/2 of the volume control is cut off due to overscan... I tried every setting (besides those in Serviceman mode) and there is not way to adjust it... Now I have a 2000+ TV here... I am not gonna use service mode and potentialy void my warrrenty....

Does anyone else have/notice this problem?

If it affects my TV I haven't noticed it. I just got a Sony 51HW40 and it seems to be okay without any tweaking. Have you checked the Avia or Video Essentials to see how much overscan there is? You can certainly have a tech come out and adjust the TV if it's way out of spec.
