well, I gave this a while ago I thought I'd try again

My HDTV cable receiver box has DVI which I tried straight to my monitor but I was blocked by HDCP never thought I'd see it but it did happen.

Is there any workaround this? does HDCP block stuff out thru YCbCr ( component ) or only DVI and HDMI?

the reason I ask is I was thinking about getting an adapter VGA to YCbCr ( component ) will that work?

something cheap and simple like this http://www.ramelectronics.net/assets/images/video/55-873-RCA-6.jpg

plug the component ( red, green, and blue ) into my HDTV cable receiver box than the VGA to my 2005FPW. Will that work?

I had an account for there but I forgot it haven't visited it in awhile I just did to pick out a good HDTV. I also don't know where I would post something like this not to mention that forum is incredibly messy.

guess I will have to visit it again though as I am not getting any replies

I read up a little bit more on HDCP I think it's only with DVI and HDMI.

No HDCP for component. The issue is whether that adapter does what you think it does, and I doubt that. As far as I know, those are made for specific video cards that can output the component signal through the VGA pins.

think I may of found the answer online

*Note: Component Video is Y-Pr-Pb encoded video which is different than non-encoded RGB and RGB/HV. The Device to which the "VGA" connector is connected, needs to support Component video (Y-Pr-Pb) for this type of cable to work. This is common for projectors. Some other displays also support Y-Pr-Pb through the HD15 (VGA) connector. Check your Plasma, Projector or HDTV manual, otherwise your picture will be extremely ugly and possibly won't have sync! In this case you need a "transcoder".
