Greetings:

I have an ATI x800xl and I've dl'ed some 780p (?) HDTV videos. However my video card setting only goes down to 800x600 and the video looks...odd...a little artifacty. I'm entirely sure I don't have something set up right. Is there anyone who can direct me to a help site? Google is simply frustrating me at the moment.

TIA!

It's probably 720P (1280x720) that you have. Are you just trying to watch it on the monitor or output it to a TV?

Just watch on my monitor. It doesn't look very good and it should look awesome, right?

Can an HDTV file be 'smaller' than the 720P resolution?

Try and download some WMV HD files from Microsoft's website and see how those look. Some are 720 and some are 1080.

What viewer/player are you using?

usually then they are just video converted to xvid format from HDTV sources. plus the resolution is then downconverted to dvd resolution. so of course the wmv video files will look better, they are "true" HDTV resolutions.
