aphexII,

No, just like most Direct-View HDTVs this TV can only display 480i, 480p, and 1080i. The other common standard for HDTV 720p is unsupported. 1080i is interlaced so the highest progressive scan signal this TV supports is 480p.

Good deal on this TV though, many 32" HDTVs normally go for this price!!!!

stick with my 36" Wega I got for $800 taxed and shipped :)

this model (deal dead)

I dont need HDTV

Plus add shipping to your deal, oh and read up on them on resellerratings.com :)

Maybe you could the sites for a PM at Sears, that would be a safer way to do it?

All the prior sets from SONY that had these features were thousands more so I wonder, also its in the top 10 most popular sets on pricegrabber and several other sites I checked.

A SONY Wega HDTV ready at 36 at 1599$ is still good price. I have seen one, with several different signal inputs , the picture is great.

It is a SONY, at 36" and it is HDTV ready and it is 1599$ as opposed to 3 or 4 thousand dollars, irregardless of anything else it does or doesnt have those are pluses

well this is apretty normal price on these dude.

Even crutchfield (rip off) has it for $2000

While Goodguys will get it to you for $2000 tax and shipping incuded, -$150 special = $1850.

The links you gave us want $1600 + $300 shipping plus tax, which would be about $2000.

No deal here.

lol, you guys are obviously just thread crappers, it doesnt "SUCK" and now you are just repeating your earlier post with nothing new just to be negative.

ITS still got all the things the much more expensive versions of these sets had for alot less on a l36" size , no comments about how much it "SUCKS" can change that.

As far as the shipping, all these really big heavy TV's are expensive to ship, and though this shipping is a little high you would pay tax in the store on a much higher store price most likely, which you don't on the internet.

Cheer up guys, you both sound very negative, life isnt that bad. No one is forcing you to buy anything here. It's still a major price drop, nothing you can say changes that.

LotusNotesGuy, welcome to the hotdeals forum (Not the TV review Forum)

a deal is when you can find it cheaper at one place over other places.

fact is this is standard price on the TV, MSRP is $1999 (see sonystyle.com)

dont be so easily offended dude.

you want a warm deal, buy it at Goodguys.com, free shipping, no tax $150 off.

still no hotdeal here.

Rally1 no one is really interested in standard price when there is a cheaper price, THAT is what the HOT DEAL forum is all about <laughing>.

Why are you quoting us an MSRP as a point to say this is a bad deal when its not being sold for that? The price is 1599$, 400$ less without the shipping or tax if you go retail. Get with the discussion here man.

As for your capricious comment about it not being the TV review forum, and it being the Hot Deal forum, maybe you need to read the posts above, it IS a major price drop , that was the title of the thread. AND as you can see from one or two posts people agree its a good price, one person above specifically even said just that.

Other people posted the technical messages and replies to give a thumbs or thumbs down on technical features affecting the value of the deal, so direct comments about this being the TV review forum to them wise guy.

In case you didnt notice, people discuss the technical features on here because it is a FORUM, which is a place designated for discussion. Specifically a technical forum. I have never seen a technical forum where a member criticized another member for technical comments on made on a tech forum before. HDTV is a new technology involving DVD's, satellitle DVD recorders for PC's, other tech stuff for sure, DVD recorders for TV's, and the new HDTV sets even use the same connectors on the new PC graphics boards. I got over a DOZEN emails asking me about my Philips 985 DVD +RW DVD recorder ( which I mentioned in another post) and questions on HDTV.

You are way out of line here, this is obviously a topic people want to know about and discuss.

You seem to think you have the right to APPROVE what technical topics are discussed here. Let me ask you something, how many audio/video products that can record or are graphics related has AANDTECH reviewed or just kept us up on. Digital technology is changing our lives, in everthing from Graphics boards, TV's , DVD movies and DVD recorders for pc's and on and on.

Since I started this thread earlier, I see other members have started at least 2 or 3 other HDTV threads in this forum , one for an ATI graphics board DVI adapter and other stuff.

Do you even read the rest of the site or the official product reviews? Maybe you should.

you just dont read do you?

your price $1599 is of no value if it cost $300 to ship it! Think about it, if the total after shipping is more then you can go to Goodguys store and buy it, it is not a hot deal.

There is no problem with talking about HDTV, just give us deal on one. THIS IS THE HOT DEAL FORUM (there are others on ANANDTECH)

Anyone in this thread buy on of these from the links you gave, no, and it they did they made a mistake.

still no deal here, give it up, it's not that big a deal, you made a mistake.

I read fine. Do you?

You dont have the right to decide what we can discuss here, as your comment about this not being the HDTV review forum, and its still a good deal, what you mean to say is that you have slightly better deal.

Pay more attention, THIS is still a major price drop for SONY WEGA sets with these features at your merchant or the one I found when I started the thread.

And I noticed you completely ducked responding about your capricious comment about this not being the some kind HDTV review forum and choosing what we can dicuss.

Coward.
