HDTV hooked up to my PC wont display video files

Works fine as a monitor and videos embedded into a website are displayed fine, but anything opened in a media player and the area where the picture should be is just black.

Maybe this is blocked intentionally? It's connected using a dvi to hdmi cable.

Do you see them on the PC monitor? It could be codec related or you overlay settings. Is it just WMP? Does it connect to download the codec? Download the latest drivers, what video card and software you you run for display?

Yeah they show on the PC monitor fine. I've tried both WMP and VLC media player. I'm running a Geforce 7900GT, using the Nvidia software to run the monitors in clone mode... set it up using Nvidia's control panel in advanced display properties.

Edit: I've also tried videos that require codecs and ones that don't - no luck with either.

Yeah, that's not going to work. You have to set them as independent monitors.

That works, I guess it's better than nothing... I don't really understand why everything can be cloned besides videos.
