First off, can i get away with just having a good 720p screen for these systems?

At any rate, Im looking for something in the 35 - 42 inch range, i dont care about plasma v LCD. Just want something with a good refresh rate, that works well with these systems. Matter a fact it can even be one of those newer proj. screens. So any recomendations?

Well...if you're going to get a PS3, don't get a Bravia! Don't give them any money! :p

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions and I just wanted to say something. :D

I hear the best ones are LCD Sony Bravia, Sharp Aquos and the Samsung one.
But they're fairly pricey.

Of those, most will tell you the Sony has the best quality, but is also the most expensive.

Yeah 720p will suffice for Xbox360 and PS3, in fact, lots of games are 720p only...

A projector is nice but they are kind of expensive and you really need to setup your projector room ideally for the best quality.

I'm no TV expert and that is as much as I can tell you... maybe you can look at a 24" PC monitor, ones with HDMI/Component are only around 800-1000 and of course have a resolution of 1900x1200 (which means they can display 1080p content) but if you really need the extra screen real estate... maybe you can get a cheap Werstinghouse LCD?
