HDTV DVI input

Quick question -
Considering buying a new widescreen hdtv and have noticed that some are listing a DVI input. Is this the same interface as a computer's DVI output? Or is it used for the HDTV tuner? (Or both?) Wasn't planning on hooking up a computer to the hdtv, but it might be interesting to have there. TIA

Yes, DVI is DVI. You might however find that the TV set may ask for a rather weird timing - not all VGA drivers will be ready for it. If I were to try that, I'd start with ATi cards.

Some are used for HDTV tuners only while others work with PC video cards. Check with the HDTV manufacturer if they have tested their tv's with ATI and NVIDIA cards. You would be surprised that there are some who haven't. Some specify to be used only with HDTV tuners.

While I'm not planning on connecting a computer up to it. It might be nice to have there. I'll keep this in mind while making up my mind. Thanks
