HDTV and Vista

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been trying to get my HTPC set-up using Vista Home Premium and I'm having a helluva time getting the HDTV to work. I've tried it with both a geforce 6600 and radeon X1300Pro. With the nvidia drivers I can't even get the force tv detection to work and with the ati drivers I can't get them to display anything above 1024x768 on the TV. As far as I can tell, this is the only problem that I've been having with Vista.

I've had it working with XP MCE 2005, and I'm thinking of just rolling back to that. I knew going into it that the drivers were just not that mature, but I thought I'd take a stab.

Athlon64 X2 4400+
nforce4 vanilla mobo (foxconn, can't remember the model)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy
ati TV Wonder 550 Pro
and either geforce 6600 or radeon X1300Pro (I'll go with whichever works).

Thanks in advance

Right now nvidia's drivers are still in beta and are not supported for "performance". ATI's drivers are in a much better place as far as stability goes, but not good enough! If you have the money...buy an xbox 360. I have it running as my Vista media center extender and it works great (including watching and recording live tv).
