Hdr software

I know to real way to do hdr is with 3 photos and playing around with layers.

But since it recently got popular, I've seen many people use a smart phone app to do it. But the app only takes one picture and turns it into a somewhat hdr picture. Its not great but really decent. I would get the app but my nexus one camera isn't excatly the best.

I was wondering if there was a freeware version for windows out there. I don't know Photoshop nor do I have a remote interest in taking better pictures.

i use photomatix but it isn't free, tis damn good and easy to use as well

not sure if they have a trial you can mess around with though

Is it pretty much a couple of clicks and I'm good or I gotta use more then one photo

you can use just one photo (preferably raw over jpeg) but it'll do something with jpeg as well - just not as well as raw, and deffo not as well as 3 diff exposures.

My point and shoot only takes JPEG. I don't bring out the dslr much anymore, I'm such a waste of that thing.

i use photomatix with jpegs generally. even with my dslr, i generally cant be bothered with the hassle of raw.

3 jpegs will be better than 1 raw though
