HDR+AA in STALKER?

Anyone gotten HDR+AA in STALKER to work?

AFAIK, the game does use HDR correct? And is it FP16/32 HDR right? Not the "Source engine" kind right?

It seems that I just can't tell whether HDR+AA is working correctly. I'm getting a whole lot of jaggies on the characters but in all the world looks pretty nice.

Haven't tried all the Nvidia compatibility bits yet but just thought I'd ask around too.
In all I think the game looks alright. But the jaggies are just bothering the hell out of me :|

Anyone with a X1900 get it to work?

On a side note, I'm liking UPS today. Got the game here in one day with ground shipping (of course it shipped like 10 miles from where I lived :p)

I dunno but, I wouldnt want to use it anyways. This game lags heh. I have a fast rigg and even with mediumish quality settings its still lags sometimes. The game does look good tho, if you can run it at max settings. So many freaking AI bugs though, among lots of others. They got alot of bugs and performance stuff to iron out thats for sure. Although I will have probably beaten it already by the time a patch comes out.

if the game starts lagging, just go into the video options menu and hit "use" and your framerate will jump up at least 30fps, i promise...stupid memory leak.

Is that what it is? I dunno but, I dont see how anyone could play this thing hours on end with the max settings. I had to switch to static lighting(Directx8 I think?) to make it so I can have decent fps. It does feel like theres a memory leak as well. Sometimes I arrive at checkpoints and the game like stops and chugs, then starts again.

I don't think you can use HDR+AA due to STALKERs HDR/dynamic lighting using deferred shading (a la GRAW and RS:V).

Ya know, I don't think that either AA or AF is being used. Although I can't say for certain.

I'm pretty sure he is right.

Wow, questionable AA/AF and another broken HDR title.

Are we sure that none of those aren't just initial bugs? Can we have some pics perhaps?

edit: saw OP's edit

For some reason when I play stalker i get horrible FPS at 1680x1050. I get somewhere around 20fps... and this doesn't change regardless of any settings changes I make. I can set everything to the lowest setting but if I'm at 1680x1050 I get 20FPS, even if I turn everything back up!

If I move down to 1400x900 I get 50-60.

vsynch is off.

Is anyone else having this problem? I was thinking that maybe the 320 MB of ram on my card is the bottleneck, but this doesn't make sense at all when changing detail levels, grass density, etc doesn't make a difference.

weird.

For reference, with 8800GTS, 1280x1024, video settings at "maximum" (haven't gone into Advanced tab yet) used 529mb of video memory (number taken from RivaTuner).

2.4gb peak commit charge.

This thing's a beast when cranked up. If it had a built-in benchmarking tool it'd be the new go-to benching app for new cards.

I am having the same problem. I have FX-57 (OC to 2.98 Ghz), Dual 7900 GTX SLI, 2 MB RAM and the game just chugs along in 1680 x 1050. I just got a new Samsung 226BW (awesome LCD by the way) and have started gaming exclusively in that resolution. Most games run just fine (Doom 3, BF2142, Etc.). But STALKER runs like crap. I have to turn off dynamic lighting to get it to run smoothly. It is a real bummer.

Today I picked up an eVGA 8800 GTX. I will install it when I get off work. We'll see if makes any difference.

found the culprit. I had Anis maxed out. I moved it down to about 1/3 on the slider and the FPS jumped up to 50-60.

Also, I upgraded to the new beta xp drivers. Oblivion now plays ALOT better.

there are "sliders" for AA and AF

the lighting is independent of those settings ... i got the cool effects :)

looks great and runs well on my rig 14x9 ... everything on and maxed - EXCEPT 'grass' [80% down], some shadows and med-hi textures ... looks like 2xAA/maxed AF

*jaggies* aren't bad at 2xAA/16xAF

and it's a x1950p/512m

1.5GB RAM probably helps keep everything fluid ... my latest upgrade this afternoon from 1 to 1.5GB PC3500 ...

only my Credit Card is suffering

Yea, I know about the sliders.
With those I guess it's working although I'm not sure.
