HDMI / VGA -> S-video, component

Hello,
My friend has an old TV he uses in his garage, and we wanted to play some MAME on it with my laptop. Only problem is my laptop only has HDMI and VGA out. Here are the specs to my laptop:

Is there a way for me to extend the video to the TV with a certain cable or adapter? I'd rather not use a box. Thanks.

I believe the only way this would work with just a cable is if the laptop supports s-video or composite out through the VGA port. The laptop would need to have a setting where particular pins on the VGA port would be remapped to send this type of signal.

If the laptop does not do this, you'll need a converter box to change VGA to s-video or composite ~$30?
