Hi!

My main computer/monitor set up went to the shop. ^_^

I'm using my secondary computer/monitor to play GW2 on. (AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.30 GHz, 8.00 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7025/NVIDIIA nForce 630a).

The monitor I have is a small 21" Samsung TV I hooked up to the seondary computer using an HDMI to VGA converter. The lag in GW2 is terrible! Are there any settings on the TV I should change? I've changed the settings in Guild Wars 2 all the way to low/Best Performance, but I am looking at a slideshow, even in PvE land away from the crowds.

The computer doesn't have an HDMI thingieamig so I am using the adapter.

Kind of close to buying a regular monitor that uses VGA. o_O

You got a convertor that turns VGA from the computer into HDMI for the TV? I didn't think that even existed. It's probably laggy because it has to take an analog image and encode it into digital

Yep. The HDMI cable from TV goes into this thingamajig and then there's the VGA cable that I hook up to that thingamajig and I plug the VGA cable into the computer. It is terrible lag with the game :( It is not so bad just browsing the web, though.

Doesn't your computer have a DVI port? You can get a DVI->HDMI adapter for very cheap. Even Radioshack sells one

Wait, are you trying to use the IGP for GW2?

I don't think this converter is your main problem. The GF 7025 was too slow for even light gaming when it was brand new, ages and ages ago.

To back that up with some numbers:
Geforce 7025: 24
Geforce GT 610: 351

With comparable GPUs, there are problems with Passmark as a reliable single-number benchmark. But, you're not getting into that with a bit over an oder of magnitude difference there between the lowest-end current Geforce and what you're trying to use. That Geforce Gt 610 is right in the ballpark of 'fat-core' AMD APU, and Intel IB and Haswell, IGPs.

I ended up using a different monitor, one that I could connect using just a VGA cable...and no improvement. :( I will have to wait for my main computer to get out of the "shop" once the upgrades are done being installed in it.

Meanwhile, I may boot up Guild Wars 2 every now and then to talk to friends. Very difficult to move around like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDAQbpS_Kxc

Thanks for helping out. I thought the terrible gameplay was from the VGA/HDMI converter/adapter, but I guess it's just the outdated compooper.

To be fair, just the chipset, which was likely old when the motherboard was made (nVidia got out of chipsets, but any of the pre-FM desktop chipsets can be used with any socket right up through AM3+, so lots of cheap boards had Geforce 7025 and 7050 chipsets for years after they were obsolete, as nVidia just wanted to get rid of all the chips). A low-end video card would make it quite usable.
