I am going to buy a PS3 in the near future and I have been told that they only come with HDMI and Component input. My old monitor (requires RMA - died) supports HDMI, but my new one does not. I was planning on using my old monitor for gaming anyways, but if I end up selling it, I would need a way to play my PS3 on my monitor without it looking like shit.

So is there a HDMI to DVI converter out there much like the component to VGA adapter for the 360? Also, will I see any graphical degradation due to the conversion?

I am finding a lot of these types of devices and I am unsure which would be the best to get.

This was sent to me through an e-mail from an old friend who swears by it.

I found this through some Google searching.

And then the link you just sent me. For now, the HDMI to DVI looks like the best option for everything, but some of the devices have some interesting features that I may or may not use; such as some of the older consoles I still use would only benefit from the devices, whereas only my PS3 would benefit from the HDMI to DVI.

Chances are, I will probably just buy the crossover from Newegg (hopefully they have a longer cable than 3.3 Ft), but input from people who have used one of the component devices would still be appreciated.

Keep in mind you will have to find another way to pass audio to your speakers!

I use component on my monitor, but would love to use DVI if my PC wasn't taking its place :p.

No point in the x2vga or those convertor boxes, HDMI-DVI will work fine as long as you have HDCP Monitor
