HDMI Switch question

My receiver has 3 HDMI inputs. Right now I have my Western Digital TV box/Att Uverse box/HDMI switch plugged into my receiver.
Only 2 things plugged into the HDMI switch are my 2 xbox's

I've heard people say its not good to have stuff into an HDMI switch, then that plugged into another switch (receiver).
Any truth to this? Should I have the HDMI switch hooked up to HDMI 2 on my tv instead?

The only worry would be if there were any handshake issues, audio stream problems, or HDCP problems. If the XBOXes work without a hitch there's no reason to be concerned.

I can tell you from personal experience that it's a freaking nightmare to get good HDMI handshakes. I went through 3 different HDMI switches and even one that everyone recommended from Monoprice. In all cases, the switch by itself would work with most of my stuff... so a 5.1 switch with my PS3, HDX-1000, PVR, DVD and XBOX into my TV direct.

When I tried to hook the switch up to my receiver which only has 2 HDMI in and one out... It was a freaking nightmare. NOTHING worked but the HDX-1000. My PVR would constantly give me the HDCP error. I went out and bought 5 new HDMI 1.3 cables from Monoprice... nothing. I could not get my PS3 or XBOX to ever work. It simply would constantly say no signal on my reciever. I tried turning everything off, back on. One thing at a time. Changing inputs on the reciever, changing inputs on the HDMI switch. Sigh I went nuts -- I just broke down and bought an Onkyo 807. What a mess.

Again the switch worked well by itself. Once plugged in the receiver it would not.. too many things to work at I guess. I had an Onkyo 605.
