I need to pick up an HDMI switch and 4 HDMI cables.
How's this switch?

Is 28 AWG the thickest HMDI cable i can get that isn't CL2?
Do I need ferrite cores?

If the stream is too small, the big fish can't get through.

Just asking because "sitch" is in the title

I don't know. None of my other cables have them but they are older cables.

Cat 2 doesn't make it worse, you know. But you should probably get the 28AWG (w/cores) anyway because the 24 is so incredibly thick and unwieldy.

I have that switch and it can be a bit flaky with HDMI handshaking/DVI EDID. Switching between source signals sometimes times awhile and starts with snow, then I get a signal after all the HDCP/EDID handshaking works itself out. Using HDMI with my STR DG-1000 is also flaky as the source will often revert to 720p. I believe some of these problems are related to my LCD monitor being native DVI with a DVI to HDMI converter. Another thing is if my PC is in hibernate and the LCD is in sleep, I need to wake the PC first, then switch on the HDMI switch (powered on/off by my receiver) or it will lose signal and start changing main desktop monitors. Overall it works, but its definitely a bit quirky....for $40 its not too much of a risk though.
