HDMI from ATI card to TV question

QueBert

Lifer
ATI Radeon 4xxx with the DVI -> HDMI adapter, TV's a 27" Westinghouse. Running XBMC for the front end, I've tried the built in and Directsound HDMI settings in XBMC. With both the audio cuts out for a few seconds maybe every 5 or so minutes. HDMI cable is 25 footer from Monoprice.

Any ideas how I could troubleshoot this? ATI card has the latest drivers.

Is the sound working outside of XBMC (in Windows, MacOS, etc)?

I have an NVidia card that did something similar and for me it was the computer changing the sound channel back and forth from the PC speakers to the TV. Maybe try disabling your PC speakers (or any others) and see if that makes a difference.
