HDMI/DVI/COMPONENT?

I've recently purchased a Panasonic 42 inch plasma HDTV I saw a cable package they were selling which included two HDMI cables along for about 80 dollars. I currently am using component cables and was wondering whether I should upgrade to HDMI or DVI for my screen. If I were to upgrade to HDMI would cable quality matter (i.e. should i purchase it from a more name brand company or are all cables pretty much standard). Thanks

can you say why i should pick those ? thanks

DVI and HDMI are the same digital video signal in a different package. Plus HDMI can also carry digital audio. So, if you want digital A/V going to your TV from a component you should probably pick this.

Component use to sometimes look better when HDMI was the new thing. However, know it is generally accepted that the all digital connection HDMI provides is superior to the analog component connection.

All things considered though, they will be very similar. I would challenge most anyone to tell me the difference between component and HDMI in a blind A/B test
