Here is the situation: I want to hook up my computer to my new TV (Sony SXRD Grand WEGA 1080p) that sits about 12ft away viewable, but will need about 20ft of cable by the time I run it along the wall and behind the TV. I've been to the monoprice.com site that I've read about so much here (great prices), but am not sure on what guage I need for that long of a run (signal loss?). A 26 AWG cable is about half the price of a 22 AWG and is probably easier to run (thinner). Any advice?

PS - I'm running a eVGA 7900 GT OC - thoughts of the resolution I should set it at and how things will look? Or is there a better card out there for this?

The 25ft 22AWG will do the job. The 24 might be adequate, you can check over@AVSforums for feedback. I don't know if I'd use the thinner 26 though, if for no other reason, because with that nice a set, I'd be willing to spend an extra $20 to help ensure the PQ/IQ is a good as possible.

You will probably be best off with 720p for most gaming with your card, 1920x1080 gaming would be pushing it, at least for some of the newer games with any eye candy on. Hopefully you won't encounter any under/overscan issues that force you out of the actual res.

Of course there are better cards, the 8800GTX would be significantly better for gaming@1080p and hardware decode assist of things like H.264 HD content. But your card is fine for most stuff.

Thanks for your input. It isn't that I'm trying to be cheap; I just didn't want to waste money and have overkill like I see so many people do with speaker wire.

I guess I'll play with the resolutions once I get things hooked up. I'm at a point where I could go with two 7900's in SLI or just hold off til the 8800s get the bugs worked out and come down in price.

Again, thanks for taking the time to answer.
