My HDTV and A/V Receiver are BOTH HDMI 1.3...........with all the new HDTVs being HDMI 1.4, if I upgrade to one of them, is there possibly an adapter/converter to HDMI 1.4 that I can install so I don't have to buy a new A/V Receiver too?
Honestly I would worry less about HDMI 1.4 and start looking forward to HDMI 2.0. If you did buy a HDMI 1.4 tv I don't think you would have any problems with your reciever unless it is 4K or you are using 3D. If someone has information counter to this please jump in.
If you do plan to buy a new reciever at some point, I would wait until HDMI 2.0 is in stores later in 2014. The good news is that 2.0 is completely BC with 1.4 and even uses the same cable. Just a recommendation.
There won't be any problems at all. You just lose a few possible features of the TV (120Hz 3D for example) that the AVR probably doesn't support anyway.

THANKS! I subscribe to DTV and do presently have 3D [rarely use] with an adapter that goes between DTV Unit A/V Unit and HDTV. All no doubt mute points after being reminded that HDMI 2.0 is not far off. BEST wait till then and then see what I can do to keep on "da cutting edge" [probably can't anymore].:hmm:
