I have been using one for years and find it works really well. Only downside is you need to rent a cablecard. They pulled WMC out of Windows 10 but there are supposedly ways to install it anyway.

Which is why I am staying with Windows 7 for now.

Same here but Im tempted to make a backup of my drive, upgrade to windows 10, authenticate it, see if I can get WMC installed and running and if not then restore my backup. Since it will have been authenticated I can always reinstall in the future for free.

Have 3 machines running WMC. One is next to the other (home wmc server) so it having wmc running not a real need. Going to upgrade that one from 7 to 10 to see what i can get working.

I picked one up; seems an interesting device but documentation very thin.

Not much to 'install'. I plugged it in and have an activated cable card. vlc on 14.04 is able to find all the channels (via universal plug-in) vlc under 16.04 is not.

Only one channel in my market has drm enabled (out of approx 200); sadly I used that channel occasionally but not very often. I do not have any preimum move channels (like hbo, showtime, ...) but they likely have drm enabled.

Have you installed it yet?
