I've an Abit IC7-G BIOS 1.7 with a WD2000JB (200GB 8MB) and a Seagate BarracudaIV 40GB 2MB on IDE1 , a Samsung CD-RW and Creative DVD-ROM on IDE2, and 2 WD800JB (80GB 8MB) on the ICH5R SATA (IDE3 and IDE4) using Abit Serillel2 PATA-SATA adapters, in a RAID0 array.
Through much trial and error, I've managed to install WinXP on my IC7-G (BIOS 17) ICH5R RAID0 array (2xWD800JBs using Serillel2 adapters)...had to disable IDE1 to do it.
But how do I enable IDE Channel 1 and still have Windows boot from the SATA RAID array? If I set IDE Channel 1 to enabled, and the boot order to Bootable Add-in Device (set to SATA RAID) followed by the PATA HDDs on IDE1, the system would hang after displaying the IRQs used by each device (of if I have a bootable CD in the drive, after the "Press Any Key to Boot from CD....." message.
If anyone has any insight into this problem, it'd be much appreciated. I was quite looking forward to having a fast Windows drive and 400GB of total HDD space.
Thanks,
~KS
