Hello all,

I have an issue with one of my hard drives. It started when i started receiving a S.M.A.R.T error during the POST. It said Status: Bad, Back-Up and Replace. It was not referring to my RAID 0 array but my secondary 200GB IDE WD hard drive.. I pressed F1 to resume and everything booted up fine. The drive is still available through explorer so I just open some folders and what not. The drive seems very sluggish sometimes taking a few seconds just to display the proper file icons and radomly hangs when I attempt to open a file. I then ran a chkdsk from the command prompt but it never finishes, and then the disk dissapears from explorer.

I have no clue what is going on, but my whole system seems sluggish while the drive is still showing in explorer. This is just a storage drive for MP3's,Movies, etc, etc. Sound like a virus? I scanned the drive and found none(the drive is divided into two rougly 100GB partitions, on formatted and one un-formatted.

Any Ideas???

Thanks

If the drive is getting SMART errors, it is most likely getting ready to die. I would run the hard drive manufacturerers diagnostic program on the drive, and back up what you need..
