Well, I searched but didnt find a thread that listed benchmarks for as many drives as possible. I think it would do some good if we can get a thread going with the most diversified amount of hard drives as possible.

So here are a couple of drives from my system. I also have some older IDE drives I will benchmark later.

Used Phoronix Test Suite IOzone test, when I get vista next week ill run test with software you linked to now im on Linux Mint 6

The 74GB Raptor numbers are really surprising considering how quick and snappy it feels. What's odd is I feel the 300GB Raptor is slower (it boots Windows XP SP2 fresh install slower), yet it does better in all benchmarks.

How are you getting 400 minimum on ur raided vertex? I'm running a single 120 and I get around 180mbs, which falls in line with the benchmarks.

So despite my thread where Vista and XP don't detect it, here are the results from HDTune for a new WD1001FALS (1TB, 4(?) Platters)

Transfer Rate:

Min: 58.6 MB/sec
Max: 111.2 MB/sec
Average: 91.6 MB/sec

Access Time: 12.1ms

Burst Rate: 133.7 MB/sec


yeah, this drive wishes it was 1337...grr
