HDD SMART Status?

I've tried a bunch of system monitoring stuff, and I've never seen anything display SMART information. Has anyone had much luck with SMART on nforce2 boards? I'd appreciate some help with this.

The specs:

Mobo: MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR with a WinXP Promise FastTrak 376/378 Controller on board.

Mobo driver: 3.75 Controller driver 1.00.1.29 BIOS 7.70

SMART is enabled in BIOS.

WinXP SP2

WinXP Promise FastTrak 376 Controller
No system conflicts

WD Raptor 36 GB (C: , D: ) shows as:
Drive #1 - Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device (34 GB)

WD 160 GB SATA (E: ) shows as:
Drive #2 - Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device (149 GB)

Thanks

What programs have you tried? Have you tried Everest yet? It works on my two NF7-S systems (rev1.2 and 2.0), and it can also read the SMART data on the SATA adapter on the rev2.0 board.

Are you trying to get the SMART status for diagnosing some problem with oyur drives are just for general knowledge.

For diagnosing you can get SpinRite. You use a boot disk to get into the dos app. Just this week i had it give me a big red screen saying "This drive is reporting imminent failure"

That is when i reported: "Ball de crap!"

Its a great app, you can easily rebuild drives with it.

Hi, On my MSI board there is a spot in the BIOS Setup to turn Smart on. It probably has to be on before the programs you mention can get at it. Jim

SMART is not available via BIOS for add-on HDD controllers.

Active-Smart supports SOME add-on controllers on certain mobos (I have two systems here each with the same Promise controller, and Active-Smart only works with one of them).

I'm not having any failures, I just want info like temps and stats and such.

I've tried:
Norton's System Doctor
SpeedFan
Everest
DataLifegaurd (from WD)
WinDLG (from WD)

All these apps are supposed to display SMART info, but none detect any SMART drives.
I just might be SOL.
