do hard drive makers ever release roadmaps? when will there be terabyte hard drives?

Never heard of an HD roadmap.

Not really, not like CPU and GPU companies. Terabyte drives are here, you just have to use RAID. If you're looking for a standalone, it'll be quite some time before that happens as we're *just* hitting 400GB capacity (and that's with three platters.)

There's a 500GB drive out or coming out. TB drives won't come out until they perfect perpendicular data recording.
