I've got nothing but trouble trying to get a new ECS L7VMM3 3100+ Mainboard to recognize any of an array of HDD's, most newer, some with installation programs.
For Example: in particular An almost new Western Digital 1200, 120GB, Enhanced -IDE, with installation floppy. -or- An newer Maxtor Diamondmax plus 60 7200 rpm; These Drives operate correctly in my Systems!??
Using a NEW Ultra-ATA Cable, New Mainboard, shunts set correctly, CMOS Setup, blah blah blah...What else could it be? Suggestions please, probably something Stupid....A Little Help? Thanks in Advance, CrAzY

Dang, I suppose there are a couple of basic suggestions (Though you probably tried them).
Verify the settings on the hard drive - Slave, Master, etc. and make sure a valid option is chosen. Clear BIOS on the board using the jumper to clear it. Use a different IDE channel in the motheboard.

Thanks Zyrg! I appreciate the effort. Yes, I did try all these -but- the second channel... just maybe?

Try the WD with its Single Drive setting and make it the only drive on its cable.
