HDD Question

This may or may not be a dumb question, so fire away...

I just installed my new Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 250GB SATA HDD. For some reason it's showing up as only being a 127GB HDD. Any rhyme or reason behind this? Is this normal?

I'm running an AMD 3200+ Venice on an MSI K8N Neo4 nForce4 Platinum board and the HDD is plugged into SATA 1.

TIA.

Also, the HDD is showing up as Removable Storage (i.e., the Safely Remove Hardware icon is in my System Tray). Any reason for this?

Thanks again!

You can fix that by trying these steps:

Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Disk Management-->right click on the unpartitioned/unformatted space, and create extended partition(s).

Hope that helps 🙂

It's normal for WinXP to show SATA drives as removable Storage.
