Hi.

I have been having problems with hard disks. I had a seagate 20gb disk and is developed error on it. It started by making a coughing noise on certain files, and then began showing the thorough scan at startup. The problem got worse and the disk became unusable. So i decided to buy another hdd, a maxtor this time, then this has been working fine for the last 2 months, however now i has started to stop responding and locking up regularly with this chunttering noise. From there about 50% of my applications has error on critical files and stopped working. So i did a thorough scan, this has solved the problem in the mean time, but the error are still there and will reoccur and get worse. Could someone give me some pointers as why this happens?!!?! I would really appreciate that because this is probably the best place to ask!

Relevent details : KT7A Abit board, Maxtor disk & WinME

Please help

Is your system overclocked?

Is your power supply large enough?
