HDD problem

Two Hitachi Deskstar SATA drives.
They were working in my friends PC, AMD.
I bought them, put them in my PC, INTEL.
They show up on my PC's POST.

I can create a RAID array with my controller (the one before you get to windows, and just after POST.)

Whether set as RAID, or not, I can't use them.

If I try to install windows, I get a BSOD at the point in the installation process when it checks the HDDs, and it tells me to run chkdsk.

If I use a DOS boot disk, it says NO DRIVES DETECTED, both with RAID enabled and disabled.

They show in windows XP, but with an error symbol over them and I can't do anything with them.

Note, my F3 RAID 0 worked, and my WDC works... What do I have to do with these desktstars?

The file format or something like that must be screwed up? How do I get them reset?

Yes, and I THINK I know the problem now..

I think my RAID controller is failing. If I initialize and format them 'in windows,' I'm able to put data on them - but not as RAID.

It makes sense, since my F3 RAID failed earlier yet both drives worked.
