HDD Problem

Alright i do have a HDD problem.
I read some simular post before...But here comes my :
i have a 200Gb maxtor Hdd. Some friend of mine game it away to me and so i dont have warranty...But he gave it to me Unformatted, so i formatted it thgough disk manager and everything was perfect...Until one day when i was trying to play some mp3 files off the Hdd It sayd IO error and my HDD went RAW! So this ins my big probl now...
1) Is there some special software to use, since non of windows can do it...
2) Is there some other way to fix this problem...
Oh yeah BTW iam using win xp sp2..
