Hi,

Before one month suddenly my PC crash(lock up) and when I restart Windows didn't load because some important files of the system was corrupted. So i format the HDD and install the windows. The last 2 weeks i am facing the same/similar problem my pc sometimes lock up for a few seconds or more than a minute and come back to normal. I run chkdsk /v (disk diagnostic) and it found that i have bad sectors and corrupted files. Also a few times when windows lock up the HDD is doing some strange noise. Also 2 times when the windows lock up it didn't came back to normal and when i restart my pc the HDD was not recognized by the system not even in the bios!!!, this is the message that i got ("Reboot and select proper Boot device or insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a Key" ), after a few restarts/shutdowns my HDD start to work again.

So I decided that my HDD is faulty and I replace it with a new one.

old HDD - Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB SATAII 7200rpm 32MB
new HDD - Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB

Now I have the same/similar problems with the new HDD ,windows some times stop responding for a few seconds, I also get a few random blue screens, and today corrupted files and I cant even use the windows any more because every time I am going to open an application I get this error message “– bad image C: \Windows\system32\wow64cpu.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support”

I have run memory test, stress test(CPU & GPU 100% load at the same time) everything seems file in fact I can even play games for hours without problems (ok now I cannot because of this bad image error that that occur due to the corrupted files)

I cannot believe that the new HDD is also faulty, so the something else must be wrong.

configuration
i7 920, Prolimatech Megahelms, ASUS P6T, OCZ DDR3-1600 6GB, ASUS GTX 480, Corsair 620W HX. windows 7 64bit

Test the drive with SeaTools.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I get this error message “– bad image C: \Windows\system32\wow64cpu.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support”
Have you installed w7 in 64bit and are trying to run 32bit programs?

Sounds like a mismatch between 32 & 64 bit?

I run Sea Tools and didn't find any problems.

I was getting this bad image error because some important systems files were corrupt, at least what the "chkdsk /f" said. Anyway I format and install windows again.

There is a way to test if the sata controller is working properly?
