Hi,
I am using Windows 7, and my drive D HDD suddenly run into trouble without any sign before. After I restart, Windows show checking drive D for consistency, file type NTFS. So, I let windows to do the chkdsk. The chkdsk run but end up fail to complete all the fixing. I also try to run the scan disk when in the windows. It all end up fail to complete run the checking.
I tried to run cmd to check the dirty bit with: "fsutil dirty query D :". The result shows me "Volume D : is dirty".
How could I fix it? Right now, what I am trying to do now is backup all data on the HDD to another HDD. But the problem is there are now many folders that I cannot access. When I try to open it, it show error message "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
From what I see, I guess the problem is the file system corrupted. Reformat hdd should fix the problem. Tried windows chkdsk, but it fails to complete the run. Is there any other way to fix the error so that I can get my data back?
Thanks.
