HDD problem in win2k

i have a 120gb hdd which i recently bought. i'm running win2k and have d/led the latest via drivers for my tyan trinity400 mb, which runs dma66. i'm having problems because it only sees my 120gb (slave drive) as a PIO device instead of DMA. in order to get this to work, i keep having to uninstall the ide channel in hardware manager. then at next start up it reads as PIO mode again. what can i do to get my system to see it as a UDMA device ALL THE TIME. is there anyway to FORCE it?

Thanks.
